McClatchy to Roll Out WebVisible’s Online Marketing Services to All of Its Daily Newspapers Nationwide by End of Year

The McClatchy Company (NYSE: MNI) and WebVisible ( today announced an aggressive roll-out of the WebVisible online marketing platform to every McClatchy U.S. market by the end of the year. The move gives McClatchy’s local advertisers the most efficient way to get found by customers no matter how they’re looking – in newspaper listings, newspaper web sites or search engines, or via mobile phones or navigation devices.

The McClatchy Company (, the third-largest newspaper company in the United States, has been offering WebVisible’s award-winning online marketing solution to local businesses in several markets, including Kansas City, Mo., Tacoma, Wash., and Fresno, Calif.

The program has been so successful – advertising sales in March were roughly five times higher than the previous month – that McClatchy and WebVisible are planning to add new markets every month through the end of the year. The Anchorage, Alaska, and Charlotte, N.C., markets were among several that were recently launched. The next phase will include Boise, Idaho, Miami, Fla., and Sacramento, Calif. By December, the roll-out will encompass McClatchy’s 30 daily newspapers in 29 U.S. markets.

Consumers use at least seven different media sources when looking for a local product or service, according to the User View Wave VII Study from BIA/Kelsey and ConStat.
